TNT extends AEW's contract. WWE marks are hating but it's what's best for buisness. Hopefully this causes WWE to step its game up now that they have legit competition since the late 90's. AEW has exceeded expectations. Not bad what HHH called a piss ant T-shirt wrestling promotion.
For years wrestling fans have complained about Vince McMahon force-feeding shitty lines to wrestlers. The most famous shitty line that comes to mind is Roman Reigns saying, "Suffering Succotash".
If that is not the most unnatural moment in the history of pro-wrestling, I don't know what is. Things are changing however, with AEW putting the pressure on Vince and the WWE, yoy can see things are getting interesting again. It seems as if certain wrestlers are allowed to speak freely and just hit the bullet points in their promos. Of course we will never see the day when Vince will allow wrestlers to just go completely off the script but honestly I dont think they should anyway. What's important is the natural feel and believability. People want the wrestlers to come off as genuine even though we know wrestling is scripted. Chris Jericho recently spoke with Mature Audiences Mayhem and said this about MJF: "When you're a great heel, chances are you are entertaining. Unless you're a psycho heel, which is very hard to play," Jericho said. MJF is the perfect example of why AEW is needed. If he were in WWE his character would not be able shine. He is so good on the mic that he makes me forget he is only 22 years old. All this week have been hearing wrestling podcasters complaining about Bayleys heel turn. They keep saying she is not heel enough. First of all, what people need to understand is Bayley is not your typical heel. She is playing the role of a bad girl that does not know that she is a bad girl.
That's the point of all of this, she will never be a heel that insults the crowd. She will always justify her actions in a tongue in cheek like fashion. Sasha Banks is playing the role as the real bad girl that is influencing Bayley to bad things, that's the story. I dont understand why these so-called smart fans are not catching on to this obvious storyline. I just wish people would stop asking for her to change her theme music and act more arrogant and nasty just to prove that she is a real heel. It's not necessary. Sasha is there to make sure Bayley is depicted as a heel l, that's all you need. Also it is important to note that WWE really does not do the heel vs face thing anymore, that era is pretty much over. Everybody is now a tweener. For all its worth, we can all say it's about time. Bayley has been put in a situation that is very difficult for wrestlers to be in.
She has been a face for so long that it has run stale. Bayley became boring. She needed so badly to do something different and she finally did it. After Sasha interfered with Becky Lynch and Bayley's tag-team match, taking out Becky with a backstabber and striking her with chair shots, Bayley grabbed the chair from Sasha as if she was trying to protect Lynch. But there a pause as Bayley stood there with the char in hand. The audience could sense something big was coming. Bayley looked at Sasha and then she looked at Becky. The audience began to stir. What followed was Bayley smiling as she attacked Becky with the chair as Sasha laid back in the corner smiling. Bayley's heel turn was absolutely epic. I would have to say this is one of my favorite moments in this history of the women's division. WWE got something right for a change. I don't know if it was Vince or Heyman but I do know that it was done perfectly as Bayley and Sasha laughed while Becky laid there, helpless and beaten as RAW went off the air. So Becky Lynch went to twitter and made fun of Sasha Banks for dropping a bad promo on RAW. However, if you actually break down her promo, Sasha gave us confirmation that she cried on the floor, didn't care about the Women's tag-team championships and best of all she admitted to taking her ball and going home.
All week, I have heard wrestling podcasts trashing Sasha Banks for her promo, calling it lame. What these people seem to not understand is Sasha Banks is a HEEL! This was a heel promo!!!! I don't understand why people don't get it, the promo was lame because it was supposed to be. Sasha is not trying to make you feel good about her return. She is not pandering to you idiots on social media. Sasha Banks told the truth, that's it, that's all.
I have no idea why Stone Cold is appearing at MSG. More than likely it is to promote something. Even more likely it is to help boost ratings as WWE has tried everything in their power to bring the ratings back to respectable numbers. It seems like every time I turn around there is another legend or an old timer appearing on RAW. I guess desperate times calls for desperate measures. Either way, I guess it will be nice to have Austin out there again but I highly doubt he will be able to give anybody a stunner due to his neck injury. I'm sure the crowd will pop though.
We all know that the reason Vince McMahon is switching NXT over to USA is to combat AEW in when it goes to TNT in the fall. However, another reason for the switch to USA is Smack Down moving to FOX on Friday nights. NXT moving to USA is a way to keep WWE programing on the USA network and it is at best an attempt to replace Smack Down and to also keep USA happy.
The only concern I have is that NXT may become less of a Triple H product and more of a Vince McMahon product which cheapen NXT and make it just like the main roster which has its own issues. To make matters worse, NXT will be going head to head against AEW which id on fire right now. If NXT does not pull in good ratings McMahon could decide to get involved and start to pull out whatever crazy antics he thinks will be necessary to boost ratings and to take away from AEW's audience. The big risk has pretty much no reward. WWE may get embarrassed in this situation. I can see the NXT ratings be so low that NXT is forced to move back to the WWE network which will make WWE look weak and pathetic in the eyes of today's smart wrestling fans.
ESPN tweeted what happened at the end of the RAW REUNION. Steve Austin chugs down a lot of beer showing that he is still alchahol fueled.
